# Siri Marketing Optimization — App Intents, Shortcuts, and the Voice Search Real Estate

Siri marketing optimization in 2026 is mostly about App Intents — Apple's framework for exposing app actions to Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts, and Apple Intelligence. Web brands optimize for Siri via SiriKit suggestions, structured data, and being the canonical answer to voice queries that Siri routes to web search.

Siri is Apple's voice assistant, embedded in 1.3 billion+ active iPhones plus iPads, Macs, Apple Watch, HomePod, CarPlay, and AirPods. As a marketing surface, Siri is fragmented: native app actions surface via App Intents, web answers surface via Apple's web search partnerships (Google primarily, with Apple working on internal search), and local business listings surface via Apple Maps.

## App Intents — Apple's modern integration framework

App Intents replaced SiriKit Intents as the modern way for iOS apps to expose actions to Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts, Action Button, and Apple Intelligence. For app developers and the marketers who work with them, App Intents is the single largest distribution surface inside Apple's ecosystem.

Implementation: developers declare an AppIntent with parameters and a perform() function. Apple's system surfaces the intent in Siri (when phrasing matches), in Spotlight (when search query matches), in Action Button (long-press home), in Shortcuts (drag-and-drop user automation), and increasingly in Apple Intelligence prompts.

**Donate activities** — when a user takes an action in your app (added an item to cart, started a workout, opened a recipe), donate the activity so the system can suggest re-doing it later. Drives re-engagement without paid media.

## Siri Shortcuts — user-built automations

Shortcuts is Apple's automation app, included on every iPhone. Users can string together app actions into single-tap or voice-triggered shortcuts. Apps that expose rich App Intents become useful inside Shortcuts.

Marketing implication: apps featured in well-traveled shortcuts get organic distribution. Examples: a coffee shop's order-ahead intent featured in 'morning routine' shortcuts, a fitness app's workout-start intent in 'gym arrival' shortcuts.

Gallery: Apple curates a Shortcuts Gallery. Apps with high-quality App Intents can be featured.

## Voice search optimization (Siri routes to Google or Apple's web search)

When a Siri query doesn't match an app or known data, Siri routes to web search. In the US, this is currently Google by default. Optimization patterns are similar to general voice search:

- **Conversational query optimization** — pages that answer questions in natural language
- **FAQ schema** — structured Q&A that voice assistants can extract
- **Speakable specification schema** — flags content as voice-readable
- **Featured snippet capture** — Siri reads the featured snippet for many queries
- **Page speed** — Siri times out on slow pages
- **Concise answers** — 25–35 word answers read aloud in 8–12 seconds

## Apple Maps for local businesses

Apple Maps is the local listing surface for Siri queries like 'find a coffee shop near me'. Listings come from Apple Business Connect (free, replacing the older Maps Connect).

- **Apple Business Connect setup** — claim listing, verify, add photos, hours, menu, services
- **Categorization** — correct primary category critical for relevance
- **Showcase tiles** — promotional tiles for offers, events, content
- **Indoor maps** — for large venues (malls, airports, stadiums)
- **Reviews** — Apple Maps pulls Yelp reviews; Yelp listing matters for Apple visibility
- **Look Around imagery** — Apple's Street View equivalent

#### RGM Experts Say

Apple's distribution surfaces (Siri, Spotlight, Action Button, Apple Intelligence) reward app developers who invest in App Intents and donate activities. Most apps don't. The marketing teams that do see organic re-engagement gains in the 5–15% range without paid spend. The ROI on a one-week App Intents implementation is high relative to other dev work.

## Apple Intelligence (2024+)

Apple's on-device LLM, launched 2024, increasingly surfaces app actions and content via natural-language prompts. Apple Intelligence reads App Intents, donated activities, and structured app data to fulfill user requests.

Optimization: same as App Intents (donate richly, expose intents broadly), plus expose rich metadata so Apple Intelligence has context to work with.
